April 22nd - Swakopmund

Back on the road to Swakopmund. Apparently it's compulsory to stop at Solitaire (think Soledad but much smaller and hotter) for coffee and the 'famous apple pie'. This appears to have become famous because the owner said that it is - excellent bit of marketing.

This bug had taken up residence in the ladies:

Next stop - an imaginary line on the planet:

Onwards to Walvis Bay and The Lagoon - home to both Great and Lesser  flamingoes

And a grey heron:

Swakopmund presented an accommodation problem. We had all had emails telling us that our hotel had been upgraded (Yay!) but our guide had not had this information. Cue much toing and froing and reorganising till the upgrade was confirmed.

In my case, said upgrade included a room sans hot water and a supremely indifferent staff.
